HEALTH EDUCATION
Talking about health and disease in this very special year has become more relevant
and meaningful than ever. And even if we were not able to meet personally to discuss
and debate, our classes have been going on and virtuality has offered us new and
unexpected opportunities.
THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The pandemic that changed our lives, caused by the virus SARS-Cov2, was an
opportunity to learn about communicable diseases, transmission ways, prevention,
epidemiology, but also how we face it, which are the feelings we experience, how we
are able to handle with this new and unexpected and -in many cases- scary situation.
We confronted the students with the very first news of some newspapers, during our
first weeks of lockdown: and called for reflection: “What about this pandemic and
yourself?”
What is your reaction, which are your feelings when you read these news?
How do you keep informed? How do you deal with fake news? How does this
pandemic affect you and your beloved ones? How is your routine changing? What
weaknesses — and what strengths — is the coronavirus outbreak exposing in our
society? What lessons can we learn from this crisis? How should we apply those
lessons to our everyday lives?
