KATRIN STIPPICH
Katrin Stippich is no stranger to adventure.
After living in New York for a year as an au-pair, she worked in Bangkok for a couple of
months, and even while in her own country she loved touring around never staying for
long in her native Freiburg, Ulm, Munich.
Which is why in February 2020, she decided to try her luck in Buenos Aires. Ready to
start a new adventure in her life.
From day one, at that unforgettable meeting in Polvorines, which we will all probably
remember as one of the last protocol-free school events, we were all aware of her
charm, enthusiasm and interest in the culture and lifestyle of Buenos Aires.
As a Geography teacher, the size of our country and its varied landscapes encouraged
her to settle here for a few years.
Little did we know that day in Polvorines would be one of the few opportunities we
would have to actually get to know her (at least, personally).
One month later the pandemic surprised us all. Unfortunately, she was one of the
teachers that left, as she decided to go back home to Germany.
It is a pity that few teachers had the pleasure of getting to know her better. She is
a caring colleague, generous and warm, willing to share her work material with
everyone. What is more, she is affectionate with her students (even from a distance),
enthusiastic when preparing and teaching her lessons, responsible and committed.
And above all that, she is easygoing, amusing and delightful.
Katrin is, without a doubt, adaptable. Not only because circumstances forced her to
teach online over the past two years, but because her plans to return to Argentina
          failed several times.
In February 2021, just before coming back, she received a surprising, albeit rewarding
piece of news: a baby was on its way.
Therefore, despite the upsetting news of not coming back to Buenos Aires, the
greatest adventure of her life, motherhood, was about to start.
Finn was born in August, a beautiful baby who will surely fill that home with love,
          laughter and tenderness.
It seems unreal to have to say goodbye when she is already far away. But although we
spent only a short period of time together, she will always remain close to our hearts.
Katrin, we wish you all the best, wherever the world takes you next!
                                                                       Mariana Ducros
